Salary: Up to $58,000 annually

Job Summary

We are seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to support first-level failure analysis for customer-returned server and workstation computer systems. This role is responsible for initiating the analysis process when product failures occur, researching root causes, documenting findings, maintaining accurate records, and communicating results internally and with the client company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Data Analysis, Communication, and Issue Resolution Prevention

· Apply knowledge of systems, tools, and procedures used in failure analysis.

· Use database management and reporting applications to document and communicate findings.

· Perform visual mechanical inspection of computer systems, components, and subcomponents, including power supplies, DIMMs, CPUs, NICs, SSDs, and motherboards.

· Follow procedures and diagrams to complete engineering change orders, as required.

· Complete component-level troubleshooting and failure analysis on capacitors, resistors, fuses, ICs, diodes, and related components.

· Test, troubleshoot, and repair complex system failures, as required.

· Assemble and disassemble units, computer components, and subcomponents.

· Apply communication, problem-solving, and technical expertise to resolve issues.

· Complete sample analysis for equipment and process qualifications.

· Identify optimal analytical approaches for critical problems.

· Use new analytical tools, equipment, and methodologies in innovative ways.

· Develop records and perform failure analysis on systems and components to identify root cause.

· Prepare formal failure analysis reports and present findings internally and to the client.

· Communicate with teams in Asia through email and conference calls.

· Work inside the customer lab.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Server Repair, or a related field preferred.

· Associate degree may be accepted with relevant product engineering experience.

· 0-2 years of experience in a failure analysis role, or 4+ years of experience in an electronics quality inspection role.

· Comprehensive computer knowledge is essential.

· Ability to use electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes and multimeters.

· Ability to remain current on developments in area of expertise, regulatory requirements, client products, markets, objectives, and industry trends.

· Must be able to speak English; Mandarin Chinese is a plus.

Essential Skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel.

· Familiarity with computer software and operating systems, with the ability to identify and perform software updates including OS, BIOS, drivers, and firmware.

· Ability to read and interpret schematics and block diagrams, with detailed understanding of computer and subassembly functionality.

· Ability to read and interpret system board views and board layout details.

· Ability to communicate concepts and solutions effectively across various levels of the organization.

· Ability to serve as an effective liaison between the company and client.

· Ability to work cross-functionally with minimal supervision.

· Strong analytical and statistical skills.

· Flexibility to work overtime for special projects or business support needs.
